For spouses and dependent children, you are excessive-demand exempt. Which means you cannot be refused if you suffer from an illness that would require a lot of hospital care and costs. (Other classes are not exempt, so a foreign worker with a history of Hepatitis or cancer would likely be refused.) So in your case, they are looking for things like tuberculosis, which would post a threat to Canadians.

Our children are British, so will need exams.

Thank you both so much x

Are you sure? Seems like a kind of odd question, yes but if they were born to a Canadian parent it might just be a matter of filing for a certificate of citizenship for them. My two boys were born in the USA but are dual citizens. It takes about 6 months and about $100 for the paperwork.

I know a few years ago they changed it so that if your husband was born out of the country then his kids couldn't be automatically be citizens but if he was born in Canada, you might be able to save yourself quite a bit of headache.

As per OP's previous posts, the children are from a previous relationship and are not the biological children of her Canadian partner.

My mistake. That's what I get for trying to read while baby wrangling.

Thank you all for your feedback and responses, I really do appreciate it.

With regards to the Medical exams, how do the results get sent to CIC if we're doing them upfront?
(We won't have a reference number at the time of the examinations because our application won't have been filed).

Sorry if I sound really naive, I'm getting exhausted by it all and a little bit overwhelmed! ... zzzz

There's so much to do! :o

The results are submitted to CIC electronically. The panel physician will give you a receipt to submit with your app and CIC can then look up your medical in their system using the receipt information.

Ahhh... as simple as that! Thank you
