HI.

I have one month left on my current piddly 1 year nz working visa. I have been in a common law relationship over a year and half and have my residency application ready to hand in. However I need to apply for (im trying to get ONE SAME CORRECT answer from service canada) work permit? or working visa extension?

I had spoken to my canadian employer about LMO and after solicitor intervention realised it was best i took residency through family class route.

So my question is this... do i need to apply for a work visa extension, or anew work permit with my residency application? I understand it will be on implied status for up to 11 - 18 months.

I have been told by one staff service canada that work permit will take 33 days to process on implied status i can still work and the residency will still be implied. another man said no it will both take 11 months and in this time i cannot leave Canada.

The thing is i NEED to see my family this july in hawaii a half way point we can all meet after we all had to separte after the christchurch earthquake. Is there some sort of form that I can request to live with my canadian partner for 10 days, knowing we have a rented house here, both hand canadian employers, he is with the military.

I do not know why if there is an emergency someone who is working in canada helping canada cant leave and return after a short amount of time. where is the harm

can someone please help? would be much appreciated

why don't u apply outland....did u check the processing times for Sydney vs inland?...of course u won't have implied status but u can very well return with visit visa and can go come to Ca as much as u want....or maybe u can extend either ur work permit or the other one but no clue how that would work with an outland appl in process....maybe others can help u more....good luck!
