Your husband can import things into Canada as a "returning Canadian" (type these words into CBSA website it will give you the list), if he qualifies. Otherwise, it's probably best to wait until you have a PR, or he will have to pay taxes.
As the others have said - DON'T show up at the border with a truck full of stuff, they won't believe you're visiting...
