Hi everyone, I’m applying for common-law sponsorship and wanted to get some clarity on my situation.

My sponsor is a Canadian citizen and we’ve lived together for over 12 months. We have a joint lease covering the entire period, plus other supporting documents like photos, relationship timeline, job and insurance benefits in our names with addresses, letters from family, etc.

My concern is mainly about financial proofs. Our joint bank account and joint credit card were opened about 8 months ago, not the full 12 months. Before we moved in together, we also opened a joint account in a different bank, but it had my old address on it because it was created before cohabitation and I only changed it 9 month ago. I only recently added my partner’s name to the utilities. I earn significantly more, so I’ve been covering most of the bills using our shared accounts, she contributes in different ways.

My questions are:
1. Will the joint bank accounts and credit card being only 8 months old be an issue?
2. Is it okay to include the older joint bank account even if it shows our previous address from before we lived together?
3. Overall, do these gaps affect the strength of the application if we have a full-year joint lease and a lot of other relationship evidence?
4. Will the fact that I pay for most expenses affect the application, considering our incomes are very different and she mostly uses cash?

Thanks for any advice or similar experiences!

1. It's okay if you have all of other proofs.
2. Yes.
3. You should be good.
4. No issue but you can address and explain it.
