I'm a Canadian citizen sponsoring my spouse under common law. Her PR application is currently "in process". We are getting married. I know she'll need to change her martial status to marriage on eCAS but not sure about the following:

1. Marriage certificate won't be issued 1 month after the actual ceremony, should she submit a change of marital status right after the ceremony with a copy of the completed marriage license by the commissioner (so the VO knows this is coming)? Or, should she only do so after marriage certificate is received?

2. Should she also submit wedding photos?

3. Should she update any forms already submitted with the PR application?

4. What other information/evidence is necessary to be submitted?

Thank you!

Congrats on the wedding ;)

I'm no expert, but this is what I know! We were also in the process of submitting a common-law application and decided to get married in May. Now I am just updating all the forms and stuff to say "married" instead of "common-law". Yes, I would send in a copy of the marriage certificate. Also wedding pictures, copy of invitations, receipts for the venue etc... Anything you can really!

Email the VO to let them know about the marriage and just submit a copy of the marriage certificate once you have it. There is no need to submit any of the other stuff.
