Common Law Sponsorship - Does COVID 'temporary lay off' affect my implied status as a worker?

I have just sent our application for spousal sponsorship (mid April), my visa expires in June. Due to COVID i have been temporarily laid off, i have a letter saying they have every intention to continue my employment once this all goes back to normal. In Quebec that can go for a maximum 6months. Does this affect my implied status? Do I still have implied status as a worker if I am temporarily laid off?

Yes - you have implied status as long as you included an OWP with the spousal sponsorship application and the application package was received before your work permit expired. Whether you have a job or not is irrelevant.

Thanks for such a prompt reply! :) Yes, I did include OWP with my application.
So I will be able to continue to work for my employer, after my current visa expires, when everything returns to normal after COVID?
