Common law partner sponsorship

Hello
What major issues are there with sponsoring a common law husband?
I want to know if it will be better to sponsor him after we lived together 3/4 months as partners or if it would be better to marry right away and sponsor him as a husband after a wedding?
Basically, what is more substantial proof of real marriage: the wedding or being able to live together??

Common law you must have lived together continuously for a period of 12 moths so living together for 3-4 months then applying as common law isn't an option.

If you get married you can apply as soon as you have your marriage certificate, under spousal category.
