I am a Canadian PR and my girlfriend is Mexican. We are planning to apply for sponsorship in common law category. My gf told me that she had friends who did a PR sponsorship and had a gap in their common-law living together timespan. They told her you can add up the time before and after the gap to 12 months, but I have never heard this before. Is this a possibility?
Our situation:
We lived together in Mexico (Both our names on lease etc.) (nov 2024 - mid march 2025)
I left to Europe for family reasons, she stayed in Mexico (mid march 2025 - mid june2025)
We met up mid June in Canada and started living together in Canada July 1st (Both our names on lease etc.)
She had to leave for family reasons for sept + okt and is back in Canada since end of october.
From when could we apply for sponsorship? Can we start counting from July and subtract 2 months for when she had to leave in sept+okt for example?
