Hi All,
Currently i am in Canada, my Son's VR is valid till July next year but his passport has expired last month & i got his passport renewed as well.
I am planning to apply my family visitor visa from here only by next week.

So my question is will there be any issue while coming back in Canada from our home country on a VR which is valid but linked to old passport.

Thanks.

A visitor record doesn't allow re-entry into Canada unless you're only traveling to the US and nowhere else.

How did your son enter Canada? Does he have a visa exempt passport? Single entry TRV? Multiple entry TRV?

Thanks for your response.
Yes, I know VR doesn't allow re-entry, that's the reason i mentioned that i will be applying Visitor visa by next week.
But i remember immigration officer (not only here but also at my home country) always check valid WP & VRs along with visa. So in my case my son's VR is valid till next year but on old passport.
My Son entered few years back with multiple entry TRV which is not valid now, that's the reason i need to apply TRV before i travel to my home country.

Sorry - I still don't understand your question.

The VR is effectively canceled as soon as you leave Canada unless you are only visiting the US.

The immigration officer in Canada will want to make sure you have a valid WP and TRV. Assuming you are going to a country other than the US, the VR will no longer be valid as soon as your son leaves Canada.

No, VR never cancelled if you leave Canada, no matter visiting to US or any Country. VR has an expriry date, so before that date it doesn't expire if you leave Canada.
VR also has passport number on it, so my concern is because my Son's passport number mentioned on his VR is expired.

Then unfortunately I think we are taking about two different things and I'm afraid I can't give you any further advice.

The only visitor record I'm familiar with follows the rules I described in my earlier posts.
