Members,

We are trying to get the college transcripts for my spouse from India. We called up the college and they said that they only issue 1 original (the one we have)...We can request additional copies only in 2 cases- Duplicate copy (if original is lost/stolen) or Corrected copy (if the marks/grades menioned are incorrect).
Ours is neither of this. We said we only need additional copy for immigration purpose. They said they don't provide original more than once. Also, for duplicate copy they need the original police FIR claiming that we have lost the originals. What do we do in such a scenario?
We don't live in India, so we have only been communicating with them over the phone.

Which university is this in particular? maybe members from the same university can help
In India for most universities, transcript is just a xerox of your original which is stamped and signed on by a university official and the envelope is also sealed and signed by the university. Most universities also issue the transcript through the college you studied in, maybe you can check this possibility out
Worst case, send notarized copies with an explanation letter detailing what you just said

Thanks smithac for your reply.

The University is RGPV,Bhopal- Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya and I guess they have different colleges in different cities in MP. My husband studied in Gwalior, (School of Information Technology), but his degree is from RGPV. He called up the RGPV guys and the response above is what he got.

I would suggest that he contacts the college - in my case i studied in a college affiliated with Mumbai University and i got my transcripts from the college i studied in - i atatched a note saying that the college is affiliated to Mumbai university - for the actual degree certificate you can get it notarized - the transcripts are markshets

We will try that route now. thanks for the suggestion smithac.

Not a problem at all. :)

Hi SBO

What happened? Did you get transcript from college or RGPV?

I also need to apply for transcript. Please suggest....

We also have a similar situation, in Pakistan :) regarding 1 Transcript for my wife.
Our Universities are run by Idiots. Transcripts are often required by many...for example when we apply for Higher studies etc and off course Immigration. And this doesnt go through the thick skull of idiots sitting at the University Departments. First the clerk was on Leave for 2-3 months, and mmm no one in his place to take care and then they say that they dont issue original, unless its lost....WHAT :o

Anyways What we are doing is getting copies attested and sealing them in envelops. No other option.

...OR Try talking to the Dean or someone incharge and explain to him.

You dont need "Replacements". All you need is Mark Sheets issued by Uni and selead in Uni Enevlops. Sometimes the Uni clerks get confused when they hear the word "Transcripts". So talk to someone higher up like Dean or something.

We do get intimidated by them, but, no harm they are just humans as well :)

well the easy way out is to xerox the copies of ur certificate and get it attested by ur university, seal the envelope in front of them and ask it to put the seal on it. Any clerk would do it for you, but be " practical" ;)

Yes, richivarma, devilhimselff and sonir. We physically went there. Made copies of each transcript and took these with us. Asked an official from the Dean's office to stamp each transcript with university seal, asked them to put it in the University envelope and made them seal the envelope. We only had 2 days in that city and it's a mess getting things done from Indian Universities. They make you run around the whole place. Especially, if you are from outside, best bet is to carry your passport along and tell them that you travelled from wherever to get this thing done and are only here for a day (even if you are there for more than a day or so...) ...Good Luck guys!

I am living in ksa and ame issue here but finally someone told me that i can send scanned copy of my marksheets and will get the transcipt from uni by post. Instead of demand draft the direct deposit will serve the purpose
