It's not possible to have a co-signer in a spousal sponsorship application. If your lawyer doesn't know this - I would fire your lawyer and find a new one. Yours doesn't know what he/she is doing.

Please explain y

?

You can't have a co-signer in a spousal sponsorship application. Period. This is immigration 101. You want to stay away from any lawyer who doesn't know this.

I thought there was no financial minimum to sponsor a spouse just that you are not on welfare or something...is that true? If true then you really need to ditch this lawyer.

There isn’t a financial minimum, but you do need to prove you won’t need support if social programs to survive. They can refuse applications if you fail to prove you can support yourselves as a minimum.

Ok so I have 6 thousand in my bank right now so I won't need my mom to co sihn if I already have the money then and no welfare I had money saved up since forever

It's impossible for your mother to co-sign. Co-signers are not accepted on spousal sponsorship applications.

If you want to include a letter from your mother stating that she agrees to financially support you since your income is low - that you can do. But absolutely not possible for her to co-sign. This is why we are telling you to ditch your lawyer. Lawyer should know this.

Are you employed? If you have a good job and will be adding to your 6K in savings then you should be fine but if your mother is willing to supply her bank records and write a letter indicating she is willing and able to financially support you it won’t hurt your application. The most important thing is to file the application ASAP.
