Hello, I was initially enrolled at the University of Waterloo under the co-op option and processed my study/work visa (SW) under it. Later I decided to attend a different university and had to change my DLI number for the study permit. The work permit I received had the University of Waterloo as the employer name, which was expected since I was not in the co-op program in the university I chose.

I have been added to the current university’s co-op option and need to apply for a work permit to proceed. Since this is a slightly uncommon case I have not been able to find much online.

I have my current institution’s letter, but am confused on how to proceed. Considering my circumstances, will they complicate things/ are there some things I should be aware of apart from what the usual process would be like?

Also since I am outside Canada at the moment - if I understand correctly I am not allowed to apply from here. However, a few people I know have applied and received their permits, is this recommended? Should I proceed to apply from where I am or travel to Canada just to apply for the permit?

Thank you.
