Hi All,

I am an EE(CEC Outland) PR Applicant, AOR-NOV 2020. My Canada Visa has expired but work permit is valid till December 2021.

My employer wants me to travel to Canada on work assignment at the earliest. So my question is if I should apply for a work visa-Closed work permit or should it be work visa-BOWP?
Hoping that the new visa application wont impact the ongoing PR processing.

Thanks!

Applying for TRV wont impact my PR processing in any way? Right?
Also, since my existing WP is also expiring in 6 months, so will that also get renewed with the TRV process or do I need to apply for WP extension separately?

Thank you for your response!

What permit are you on? Depending where you live, TRV processing will take months. If your work permit expires then your employer may need a LMIA and then closed work permit. This depends on your NOC. You are in a difficult position with a valid TRV. No effect on PR.

I have a valid work permit till Dec-2021. But my visa on passport expired in May 2021. NOC-2173
Currently residing in India.

CIC website says current processing time as 14 weeks from India :(

yes no effect on PR and there is no special status or permit while you are waiting for your PR application

So you either apply for a TRV or talk to your employer about if you are LMIA exempt.
