Closed WP to Open WP

My husband has Closed WP and is working for an employer. I have open work Permit, but i am not planning to work. Is it possible to get my husband an Open work Permit as he wants to see job options to work for other employers too. What is the procedure?

No. If he wants to work for an another employer, the employer must obtain an approved LMO after advertising the position and IF approved, then your spouse can apply for a new closed work permit for that employer.

Do you think that most employers are willing to take that big route to employ? I heard that employers prefer PR as they dont have to do these. I thought it is very easy to give up my OWP and change mine to visitors visa and allow him to get his OWP.

No - most employers unfortunately aren't willing to take this route to employ. But your husband can still try applying and see what happens.

And no - as PMM explained, it is definitely not possible to give up your OWP, change your status to visitor and allow your husband to get his own OWP.
