Hi..
I’m primary applicant applied for CWP from India on 23 Jan 2025
-medical request on 09 May 2025.
-medical updated on 15 May 2025

Applied for SOWP on 21 March 2025 from India.
- received ADR on 02 May 2025
- medical request on 09 May 2025.
- medical updated on 15 May 2025
- SOWP approved on 16 May 2025

I’m in a situation where there’s no decision on my application but my spouse Open WP is already approved and received passport request

1. Is this normal ? Should I be worried?
2. When will the duration start on her passport visa stamp?
(16 May or the day stamping is done?)
3. Also what will be start date on the work permit ? ( the day my visa is stamped or the day when I arrive Canada at immigration)

Thank you

I had applied for a CWP on 15th Dec and received passport submission request on 7th May. It's a long wait, but you'll get there

Are you in india? Or you came back to canada after applying CWP ?

1. It seems a little unusual for the SOWP to get approved first but I don't think there's any reason to worry.

2. has been answered already by Anitdasak and I don't have much to add to it.

For 3. it depends on when you get the work permit. What I've seen is that you usually get a copy with the visa, so the date issued would be around then. But if some reason you don't get the work permit until actually going through immigration (which is what I did since I used NAFTA - that process has a work permit issued at the POE itself) then it will be dated on the day you arrive.

What won't happen is that they give you a work permit earlier and then update the issued or expiry dates on arriving in Canada.
