Hi All,

My Closed (PG work) permit is expiring on this Oct. 28 but I applied for PR in FSW 2 categories on Aug 10 only.

As per my calculations, AOR will be received by me earliest by end of October only which may be too late right?

Please suggest options as my possible action items from your experiences asap (visitor visa/ restoration visa/ BOWP?)

Thanks in advance. Waiting for some help/advise. I am seeking formal help soon too, but thought of checking with you all.

PS:- I am currently working in Toronto full-time & would like to continue ideally

You need AOR and a valid work permit to apply for BOWP.

So your choices are to change your status to visitor (you'll have to stop working) - or to have your employer obtain an approved LMIA so that you can apply for a closed work permit.

Thanks. How long does it take for employer to obtain LMIA (you mean LMO I guess, for an open work permit)? I'll probably apply for a visitor visa soon, but in case i get my AOR after getting visitor visa but before my WP expires, can I still apply again for BOWP before Oct end? I appreciate your response..

The processing time for LMIAs is 6-20 weeks. In addition to the processing time, the employer also has to advertise your job for a minimum of one month before submitting the LMIA application.

You can apply for BOWP before the end of October if you have AOR by then.

Thanks again. I was just looking at the prerequisites for applying a BOWP and it also includes the condition "If you are in Canada and need to extend your Work Permit and renew your Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), submit a separate application for the new TRV to the Case Processing Centre in Ottawa 'only after' CIC has approved the extension of your Work Permit." What does the last part mean? Is it AOR/PER? Sorry to bother..

Yes - it means AOR/PER.

Thanks a lot. So as I understand I'll have to apply for a visitor/temporary visa before the end of this month for now to continue staying in Canada in the case I don't get an AOR/PER by then (since My work permit is expiring on EOD October 28 2014).
Once I get this temporary/visitor visa, I can still continue to work until my PG work permit expires next month (& beyond if I get my AOR/PER by mid-next month and apply for BOWP).
Please correct me if that's wrong/you have another idea for me - based on your experience/knowledge. Good day ahead..
