What's the protocol for clearing personal items (goods to follow) from customs? The freight forwarder told me I would have to show up in person at the customs office (Peace Arch) and clear the goods. Obviously this would need to be done after the 14 day quarantine.

I'm trying to have the goods cleared by customs and delivered to our final destination prior to our arrival. Can a family member already in Canada (and not in quarantine) clear goods on my behalf? Do I need to use the services of a licensed customs broker?

I haven't been able to contact CBSA by phone.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

How about email or regular mail?
Thanks for you response. The question really is whether a family member or customs broker can clear personal effects on my behalf.

Yes you need to go in person (after quarantine)

Their website mentions the process for a customer broker but I am not sure how that process works, sorry

Hi, I don't know if you've already gone through the process or not, but I spoke with someone at CBSA over the phone because we're about to go through something similar. She said we can give Power of Attorney to a family member and they can clear on our behalf. So we're going to get a letter notarized and send a hard copy to my cousin as well as a copy of our passports so he can go to Mississauga and sign for our things.
I hope that helps!
