Hi, I hope somebody can find me solid evidence ... I emigrated to Canada as a dependent got my citizenship in 1992. Now I had kids abroad after 2009 and currently living abroad as well. I cannot find a solid proof if I'm considered 1st class citizen or no and if I can pass on my citizenship to my children. Please help! (1st class citizen means the person is either born in Canada or naturalized (immigrated and obtained citizenship). Did I have to be 18 or a person applying for immigration in order to be 1st class or being a dependent of an applying parent do I still classify as 1st class????

Your children are Canadian citizens as you were a naturalized Canadian citizen. This applies whether you were naturalized as a minor or an adult.

Note: you still need to apply for certificates of Canadian citizenship for your children.

The 2009 rule change are for second generation abroad (who have to be sponsored but can then apply for citizenship immediately upon becoming permanent residents).

Note there are proposed rule changes for Citizenship but from what I've read they will not impact your situation.

Thank you for your answer! There was some confusion before that's been cleared up, that's what I've been hoping for, now it's time to apply for the certificates! Yay!
