Hey folks,

Looking for some insight on these parts of the application:

Question 19. Your Address History
this states that "You must list all your residential addresses, inside and outside Canada for the past five (5) years, or since becoming a permanent resident if less than five (5) years ago. You must account for each month in this period."

Does this mean I need to list addresses of places I was staying when outside of Canada? Even if for just a vacation? How about in the case of a long vacation, like spending a month or two somewhere? I've lived in Canada continuously, but had a baby and was on a parental leave during my last 5 years, As a result, we took some time off of work and spent some long stretches with family in the USA, but technically, we still resided in Canada. Like, we kept out apartment there.

Question 21. Your Travel History.
How do I count the days here? Let's say I left Canada on 1 October, returned on 5 October. Is that 5 days? Or is that 3 days as both the 1st and 5th I was in Canada for part of that day? And what about an overnight trip? If I left Canada on 1 October and came back on 2 October? Or what about a day trip, leaving in the morning and back at night? Do i not list those at all?

Thanks

You must provide details of each and every month you spent inside or outside of Canada (even if on vacation).
When calculating days outside of Canada you need not to include any days on which you were physically present in Canada. If you left on 1st and came back on 5th, they will be counted as 3 days (2,3,4) as on 1st and 5th you were physically present in Canada. For one day trip, technically you were not outside of Canada as you were present in Canada on both the days hence no need to mention that trip.

thanks! that clears up the day question.

Another question, when typing in travel history, what do I do with a single absence from Canada that included several cities? List them all on separate lines? Or one line which has the full absence of Canada and several cities listed in that cell?

Example:
left Canada 1 November 2013
returned 1 January 2014
Location during absence New York, Boston, Chicago
All for same reason, visiting family and friends

Do i list this as three separate lines, even though I did not return to Canada in this time? Or as one line with three cities in the location?

I would have the following preference order:
1. Put specific dates for visits to these cities (if you have those dates)
2. Put dates for the cities where you spent more than 15 days in a single city. For rest of the cities where you spent less time combine them.
3. Last, if you don't have exact dates, put them all together (preferably few cities for one month (from 1 Nov to 30 Nov) and remaining cities for one month (1 Dec to 1 Jan).

Also, I am wondering how can they come to know that you visited so many cities (all in USA) during this time. Let us assume if you say I stayed in 1 or 2 cities only during this time, how are they gonna verify it?
