My situation..

I am a Canadian citizen, my girlfriend I have only known online is Mexican. She has been in Canada in the past for 3 months and left, and has stamps to prove it. We have never met yet. We want her to visit and stay with me for up to 6 months (depending on how we get along of course). We are a bit concerned with how difficult it might be for her to be accepted for a 6 month stay at the border. Should we even say we are a couple, or just say 'friends' as the IO might not consider our relationship 'real' anyways given we haven't met yet. I just wonder how standard it is for a visitor stay to be granted for 6 months, or whether it's often for a shorter period, and how one could seek to have that stay longer. We definitely don't want to spend all of the money for a flight if the stay will only be for one week.

I wouldn't mention your relationship. The official probably won't consider it to be real given you haven't met in person yet.

Ultimately if she is allowed into Canada and for how long is up to the immigration officer she encounter at the border. If she wants to increase her chances of being allowed in for six months, I would suggest the remain in Mexico for a few months before trying to return to Canada. Otherwise the official may feel she is trying to live in Canada which she is not entitled to do.
