Hi guys,
I submitted my application in January 2007. I claimed points for English as an Expert (English is not my first language), to achieve 67 points. I have just (May 2009) received a letter from them asking for the updated documents. I have been working in the same industry for the past 2 years (counted towards NOC). Can I claim points for the 2 years I am working after submitting my application? I am asking this because that will take pressure off me to get the required expert band in English, or do I have to get Expert band in all 4 modules in English. Keep in mind that if I dont claim Expert in all 4 modules then I will not get 67 points, but if I claim points for the experience after my initial application, I should be fine.

Another thing I want to add is that I am living in London for the past 5 years. I completed my Masters and working for more than 2 years now as a professional now.

Thanks.

You should be able to claim points for any experience that you have acquired after intial submission of your application in 2007 January.

As you have studied in UK and have been living there since a long time I think getting the points for expert in all four modules in IELTS should not be a problem for you. Some practise for IELTS should help you as its all down to practise and time management in IELTS.

If you can share the contents of the letter asking for update it shall be very kind of you.

All the best.

Regards
Singh

Hi Singh,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I have just taken IELTS, but I think I have messed up the Listening module. I should be fine with the other modules. That is the reason, I am asking if I should take it again or I should submit whatever result I get and then claim the remaining points with the experience I have got working (after the submission of initial application). If you can confirm that this can be possible then I do not have to take IELTS again. If you have any contact details or url which confirms that would be really helpfull.

Thanks again.

i think its better to take IELTS , also claim for the latest expereince to be on the safer side.

Another question which you should ask is do u need 16 points from IELTS as if u had done listening average then u should get either 12+2 or 12 + 0

however if u need 16 from IELTS to reach 67 points then better take it again.

Thanks,

Thanks a lot for your reply reachmenow. I am planning to take it again.

Does anyone know what band does give me what marks? as in, 7 is 4, 6 is 2 etc etc.

Thanks again.

take into account any years of experience that occur between application and assessment,
and for which the applicant has submitted the necessary documentation (R77).

Not within 3 months since you took your last test. I think this is the regulation. Please confirm.

Hi aspire,
According to h**p://www.britishcouncil.org/albania-faqs-education-uk-home-6.htm, you can re-take IELTS whenever you want.
Hope this will help someone else.
Thanks.

Hi
Does anybody happen to know in BACKGROUND DECLARATION form in the personal history, in my case, I was studying & working at the same time. I am also claiming points for this work experience. Let me explain:

2006/ May to 2008/ May I was studying Masters while working as an accountant from 2006/ Sep.

while my study finished on 2008/ May I kept working as an accountant.

So, will I have to show like this:

2006/ May to 2008/ May studying in XXX college for Masters
2008/May to 2009/ July working in XXX company as accountant

or will I have to show like this :

2006/Sep to 2008/ May working in XXX company as accountant

Are you sure?? On the page
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG72.asp
they say: Speaking, reading, writing 6,5 and Listening 7,5

If you are right it would be very good for me.
