Hello, first of all thank you for your time. I hope someone is able to help.

I'm trying to sponsor my spouse from Sri Lanka.

She received an email from The Canadian High Commission which states:
========================================
In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following:
- Copy of the National Identity Card of yourself.
- Civil registration photographs for yourself.
========================================

The National Identity Card is not a problem. But, we are not sure what the CIVIL REGISTRATION PHOTOGRAPHS are.
Does anyone know?

Thanks again.
:)

I hope someone on this forum knows but the best answer you will get from VO Sri-Lanka.
I suggest you to ask them, to your wife ask them by sending them an email.

Good luck!

To my knowledge, it could be the marriag registration photographs...

btw did you do any religious ceremony and a marriage registration?

If they say "civil registration photographs for yourself" it means something concerning the applicant...when they need a civil registartion of a marriege its called ''official recognition/transcription by Civil Service office..." my opinion.

But if there is a religious one cannot be offcial, I guess, or maybe depends of the country and religion.

if marriage was conducted or registered in Sri Lanka.. did you register your marriage at the embassy?

i have seen somewhere , were people register their marriage at the embassy and submit a copy of it ...

additionally they also provide the photographs taken during the registration ...

hope this helps..

Yea, I don’t think they are talking about the marriage certificate because I've already submitted it, and technically it’s a document, not a photograph....
I emailed the enquiry address and also filled out an online enquiry form (both official Canada government sources) but they said it may take up to 28 days for a reply and that is too late because the deadline for them to receive these things is 19/08/2012.

I'm starting to worry... :o

I sent an enquiry email and they called my wife.
So they were looking for photos taken during the registration.

Thanks for anyone who commented.
