2. Test is conducted at your CIC local office. The one that covers the area you live in.
3. The best resource still is the "Study Guide: Discover Canada", which is mailed to you after CIC has received your application. However, for extra practice you can definitely look for others resources available.
4. Most people get the results right on spot after test is done. Then, there is a waiting period til the Oath Ceremony. The waiting time depends on your local office. Some local offices will give the oath one week after test, and some others make applicants wait for a couple of months.

When you apply, CIC communicates all these steps with you via mail/e-CAS.

By mail. Until now, e-CAS has not been updated with either their request nor receipt, and I don't think it will.

Unfortunately, you can only get fingerprints, for Citizenship purposes, by presenting the letter from CIC. So, even if one gets the request on e-CAS, they must wait to receive the letter. The letter contains the CIC office address - where the RCMP will send the results to - and which institutions in your area are approved to perform that kind of service other than the RCMP.
