Hi all,
Perhaps you may know of a possible outcome of this,
So a friend of mine who is currently here in Canada on a working holiday 2 year visa has just been told by his Canadian girlfriend she is pregnant, what are the implications of the child and himself?his girlfriend is a Canadian citizen by birth as well,
any ideas?
Thank you!

The child will be a Canadian citizen, but this has no effect on the status of his dad.

So,once his visa expires he must return to his country of origin but what of his girlfriend and child if they want to keep the family unit together?

His girlfriend will need to sponsor him, and since as far as I know working holiday visas are valid only once in a lifetime and cannot be renewed he'll need either to find a job here (i.e. a local employer who could sponsor him) or go back to his home country and wait for his girlfriend to do the proper paperwork for a family sponsorship (takes around a year depending on locations).

She could sponsor him inland, he would have to stay in the country until it is all finished. He would get a work permit and healthcare after Approval in principle. They would waive the 2 year temporary status of the permanent residency due to the child together.

They would have to be married or have proof of common law status to proceed this way.
