I applied for citizenship five years ago. It got RQ'd and then after the test, it required a hearing...which is scheduled now!!

Meanwhile, until a few months ago I was study outside canada but I was on a scholarship by the Canadian government. And my PR card is expired and given the citizenship application I have not bothered with renewing it.

Do I have any chance of getting it? And if yes, do I absolutely need to apply for a new pr card?

Any advice for how to present this is really helpful.

Thanks very much.

Do you still meet the residency requirement for PR? Have you physically lived in Canada for 2 out of the last 5 years?

I have not lived in Canada. I am assuming going to school on a canadian scholarship qualifies as work sponsored by the Canadian gov; but I'm not sure.

I suppose I can fly.

- Applied in 2011.
- Test rescheduled in 2012.
- Took the test in 2012.
- Hearing scheduled in 2016.

So you applied under the old rules that didn't have this: "Applicants must have the intention to reside in Canada if granted citizenship" if I were you I will give it try if you realy want to have canada as you home.
