Hi,

I will be applying for the citizenship of my nephew who is under my guardianship. below is his timeline.

Received Refugee claimant document at the border - 09 OCT 2019
Refugee Claim accepted - 08 MAR 2022
PR since - 14 MAY 2024

he is 13 years old now and have not travelled outside Canada since oct 2019. Based on the timeline, he will complete 2 years on 15 May 2026 and he will get maximum of 1 year for the time he spent in Canada before becoming PR.

1. Can I apply for his citizenship by mid or end of May 2026 or I have to wait for one more year. I will be applying under Minor 5(1)?
2. Processing time will be same for minors or will be quicker since they are not required to take citizenship test or attend oath ceremony?

He cannot count the time before PR towards citizenship. Only PR time forward.
