I am engaged by a canadian firm for job in india for 6 months. will this period be counted towards my residence period in canada for citizenship ? Pl guide.

No. It will only count towards your PR status. You must be physically present IN Canada for the time to count towards your obligation.

Just to clarify, it may not even count towards your PR residency obligation. You should have been hired by the firm in Canada, and then subsequently transferred to India, in order for that time to count towards your PR residency requirement. Otherwise, you are out of luck on both counts.

Agreed with the above 100%.

It definitely will not count towards your citizenship residency obligation. Unfortunately your employer is giving you bad information.

Depending on how you were hired into the role - it may not even count towards your PR residency obligation.
