I am just trying to understand what this new law will change the requirement to become a citizen of Canada.

According to IRCC website, sometime in fall 2017, certain requirements will change. Such as only 3 out of 5 years required to stay in Canada instead of 4 out of 6. And the time before receive PR also counts up to 1 year if you stay for more than 2 years.

So my question is, if I receive my PR this year, 2017 and I have been staying in Canada for more than 2 years before I receive my PR, I only need to stay for another 2 years after I landed, I can apply for citizenship? That is 2 years before PR count as 1 year and 2 years after PR, totally 3 years. Is this correct?

Thank you.

your understanding is right. the number of years you live in Canada before you get PR can be contributed up to 1 year residence requirement.

That's s exactly it. Also you could check the date exactly just by using the online calculator made for this purpose
https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/rescalc/startBasicCalc.do

Obviously as of now it is only working for pre c-6 (c-24)

Good luck and lucky you Won't have to deal with c-24 bs

Thank you. Just try to clarify that to avoid any misunderstanding.

One thing I don't quite understand in C-6 bill, it mentioned "Applicants had to be physically present in Canada for 183 days in four out of the six years preceding their application." has been repealed, but nowhere it mentioned how many days it requires to stay within Canada before submit citizenship application, currently it requires 1460 days.
In C-6, it only mentioned you require to stay in Canada 3 out 5 years, but never mentioned how many days in total or each year. Does that mean it may require applicants to stay for a full year or most of the year like 10+ months?

Thank you.

You sort of answered your own question the 183 day requirement was repealed, taken away.

When c6 is implemented you need to accumuate 3 years physical presence out of the 5 years preceeding your application. There is no rule that says you need to be present a specific amount of time in each of those years just as long as the time adds up to 3 years.

You still of course need to continue to meet the 2 out of 5 residency obligation as well of course.

I see. Thank you for the explanation.

So in C-6, no requirements for minimum days per year out of 5 years, as long as you stay 365 x3 years in total of the 5 years, you meet the requirements to apply.

When C 6 comes in force what will be the position of submitting Police Certificate because as of now it requires one to submit Police Certificate in Original from each country, other than Canada, where a person present for a total of 183 or more days during last 4 years.
Will it be the same or it will also change after the implementation of C 6 in this fall.

C6 doesn't have anything to do with police certificate, why would it change because of C6?

Because in this they are asking record of last 4 years and after C 6 the rule of 4 years is gone and the rule of 3 years comes so how can they ask for 183 in last 4 years they can ask something lesser in last 3 years

The requirement has always been 4 years even before C24 when one only needed 3 years to apply for citizenship. This certificate is about criminal background , just because C-6 has loosen up the requirement for residency doesn't automatically make it ok to also lower the tolerance for criminal history

Some of the application items will remain unchanged after C6 has been implemented. If I am being proactive and start collecting some of the documentation are some items fine to be predated prior to the C6 implementation date. For example, if I get the citizenship photographs developed with a date stamp prior to C6 implementation would this example be acceptable or are they fairly strict??
