Hello guys!

I'm just wondering..what do you guys do if cic made a mistake?
in our case, they misspelled my husband's email causing a huge delay. We knew it was there mistake because we doubled check the copies of applications we sent them. We contacted cic via email to correct it.
I wonder who should I contact regarding the consequences of their mistake. I just thought that they should be more careful especially that they always send us info via email instead of mail.

Thanks and Happy New Year!

The same thing happened to me. Being the sponsor, I was getting a bit worried when people who had sent in applications after we had were receiving AOR and we were not. I contacted CIC and asked them to confirm the email they had on file for us and they had incorrectly entered my email and so we never received an email for AOR but rather it was confirmed over the phone. I had the agent send me a form to fill out and send back to the agent concerning information change. I filled it out and sent it back, I called back a week later and confirmed that the email they had on file was the right one - and it was.

I would call and have the agent send you a form to fill out via email about correcting the email address they have on file. I'm not sure how quickly they get back to email requests. At least with the phone call you'll get a form 5 minutes after you've hung up the phone.

Mistakes happen, and yes they should be more careful. It is unfortunate this has caused a delay in your case. You can involve your MP to make a complaint, and if the MP is diligent he/she will forward your complaint to the appropriate individuals. If you want to complain directly you can do so to The Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada, contact information under the below link.

Just think what if someone under the incorrect e-mail received your private information?

Thank you for these informations.
My husband and I are worried that they might make the same mistake again. We don't quite trust their work anymore.

They have delayed us for 5 months. We found out because the officer sent me and my husband ( still using the misspelled email) a copy of a final notice email. The officer gave us a month to gather the documents that she/he would need otherwise our application will be refused.
We are so disappointed and frustrated by this. We have a daughter and she is waiting for him to be with us.
The delay might costs him to do another medical work up and that costs money too. It will expire this February. Btw im trying to sponsor him from Massachusetts USA.. figure it should have been faster without this delay. Sorry for ranting.. I just dont know who else could support me on this.
Now that I have some help from you guys I could start making some actions regarding this.

Sunnydelight, in your situation first thing I would do is contact your MP. Find yours via this site.

It is possible that because of the delay they caused they can keep processing your file without any further delay.

CIC sent me a letter. Wrong email address of mine, and, wrong SPONSOR name !
How come ? Besides the wrong email and the name, other informations is correct.
Just wonder where I can report this to correct this.
Luckily they send me a letter by mail , not an email.
If by email, I won't receive it forever.

I'm thinking of ordering GCMS notes soon since Vienna does not sent out AOR. Will I also know from the notes if they entered my email address correctly?

In each of these cases did you use the forms on a PC and use the VALIDATE button to generate the barcodes pages?

I would complain to your MP and also the manager of the visa section at the office you've applied to.

In our case, CIC Delhi decided to add some unauthorized third party's email to our file, so this person received an email for our interview, which had all of our personal details listed. Once this PR application goes through, we will also be filing a formal complaint to the Privacy Commission as this breaches the Privacy Act of Canada.

Yes
In that case, it's hard to understand how the wrong email address was entered into the system. The barcodes contain that information in machine readable format.

I don't know either. Maybe there was a glitch on their system that time... I don't know but in that case they should be double checking the information right?

Hi guys.
Same happen with my application. When i have received illegibility letter for PR from CIC vegriville office ,in this letter one my family member,s name is incorrect spelling so i sent a letter to the cic with proof (photo copy of passport ) but still i am waiting and there is no response . Hello just to share to everyone
My husband finally got his permanent residency approval after 13 months of waiting. Now on the paper it said that his medical is valid until March 26 2014..Does this mean he needs to move before or on this date?

Thanks
:)

He does not have to move before that date, but he does have to land before that date. He can land (just where he crosses into Canada for the first time to become a PR) and then go back to his home and move at a later date, if it's more convenient. He's in Massachusetts, so he can probably drive to the border pretty easily.
