Has anyone come across a case where CIC or Canada Post lost a foreign passport which was sent to CPC Ottawa for Visa stamping? What was the experience in trying to recover the passport from them? Can a legal procedure be followed for their irresponsibility?

We see this from time to time on the forum (fortunately very rarely). If the passport is really lost - there's really no legal resource. Best thing to do is to get the passport reissued as soon as possible and submit again.

Do you have a sense of where it was lost? Did you send it by registered mail and has Canada Post confirmed delivery?

Sorry this has happened to you. Hope it was only one passport...

Thanks. CIC sent it Newfound Land or Canada Post mis-delivered it to Newfound land instead of Ontario, which is a big oversight. CIC says they sent it to Ontario where as Canada Post say the package was likely marked for NL. There is no proof from CIC or CP to confirm the address mentioned on the package. I have the receipt which has both correct address and tracking number. This receipt is copied on the envelope of expresspost when filling address info. Canada Post is still trying to find out the exact address where it was delivered. It was delivered using ExpressPost service which tracks the package is delivered but no delivery signature. CIC only had given the one and only one option to deliver using Canada Post.
