Hi guys,

I just received my PGWP today but the document reflects my old passport's expiry date rather than my new one. I called CIC to report this error and they confirmed it was their mistake. The agent told me that now it is a matter of discretion by the officer that issued my PGWP whether it's updated or not.

He also told me since I provided all the correct information on-time there shouldn't be any problem and I should be extended to my new passport's expiry date (as it was confirmed by CIC) but there is still the possibility that they refuse it. I want to know what are the chances for them to refuse my extension because I did everything correct while they made that one mistake.

Any input would be appreciated, I just really hope I don't have to do the mail extension because it would take months and money. Thanks, guys :)

A little bit of context:

I submitted my PGWP application on August 24th including a Letter of Explanation describing that although I applied with my old passport, I would be renewing it and uploading it as soon as I got it in order for my application to reflect the new passport's expiry date. I also attached a letter from the Consulate signed by the Consul General confirming that my passport was in the process of being renewed.

Two weeks later, I got my new passport and uploaded it through the IRCC webform and got a CIC confirmation and everything. All of this was accepted by CIC so there shouldn't have been any problems and even the agent told me that the application wasn't missing anything and all the documents were there.

There should be a remark (at the bottom) to apply again for the extension of PGWP along with new passport.

Hi J5M,

Thank you for your response! Luckily, I didn't have to apply for an extension, CIC corrected the mistake and is sending me a new PGWP with the correct expiry date instead. If anyone has any questions with regards to applying online for a PGWP within Canada (especially with concerns to passport's expiry dates) I'm more than happy to help! Cheers!

Hey,

I have completed 1 + 1 course form seneca college, I applied for my PGWP on DEC 19TH, 2023, PGWP was approved but I only got it for 1 year instead of 3, is there any way to contact IRCC to ask them to rectify this error?

You are replying to a post from 2019. Did you include both program’s completion letters with transcripts? Were the programs completed back to back with no breaks? If so raise a webform, and ask for reconsideration.

Hey thanks for replying, i thought no one would.

Yeah my transcript has the grades fro bot the courses. I just kept the completeion letter for my latest course. Maybe thats the mistake I have made.
I guess I will have to reapply.

Thanks a lot @Naturgrl for replying!

You need both completion letters. You can raise a webform including all documentation and ask for reconsideration.
