please google for "petition for Mr. McCallum and PM Trudeau initiated by Mr. James Beatie". Can not paste the link here.
You need to have more posts on the forum before you can attach a link. Here it is:

Am I missing something?

People in this thread are suggesting this is a positive change. It "streamlines" the process. But it just streamlines how we see the process, not the process itself.

This is less transparent than what we had before. By removing processing times by visa office, all outbound spousal applicants see the same number (18 months), regardless of circumstance. It also lengthens the "normal processing time" for most applicants. (My visa office said 11 months last week.)

Please tell me if I'm wrong on this!

I don't think you can be wrong or right at this point because we have no idea how it's going to effect processing times/process.

I personally think it won't change anything.

I completely agree with you! Also, if you account that SA takes 60 days, rather than the 10 days they suggest, the processing time will be 20 months.

If you take a look at the spreadsheet someone linked about, the info is also dated, from March 31, 2015.

IMO, there are only two positives:

1. Inland times dropped from 28 months to 26

2. Applicants will be able to [hopefully] get answers from the Call Centre [don't laugh] as soon as the posted processing time has passed. Even if the overseas visa office, for example, really does take longer than the 18 months shown, at least a person can call after 18 months and 1 day, without being yelled at by the phone clerk.

A glitch was the cause for stating SA would take 10 days, it has now been fixed by CIC.

Also the processing time is now 26 months, not 18.

It also says

Processing times will vary based on:

Type of application submitted;
Volume of applications received;
How easily we can verify information;
How well and how quickly you respond to any requests or concerns;
Whether the application is complete.

So do we think that the reason they've made this change is to pretty much safeguard themselves from people calling them once their application went past their visa offices listed time?

Why the hell would they do this, so ridiculous! It was misleading before, but the truth was there in the fine print regarding the 80% times. This is just plain wrong information.

Why? They don't want to be contacted or bothered. Can't you see they are working??
