We have had our PR application in for 5 months through the EE Canadian Experience route.

Our status board on MYCIC shows medicals passed and couple of others in progress. On the 23rd of Dec we got out 'Final Request' email. They request passports/or copies of (depending on which country you're from) and larger passport style photographs.

I promptly returned them by express post and they received them before the new year......

My questions are.....

Is this the last step?
If so, how long until PR is granted?
and am I allowed to work for another company before I officially land, currently on a closed permit? (leave/return to Canada)

I only ask as I am being offered a new job, and the employer is keen for a start date

Any advice would be gratefully received

Many thanks

Ben

Hi Ben.

Congratulations!

This is the last step. You will receive the Confirmation of Permanent Residence by mail. You will then have to make an appointment at a CIC office, or cross the border to let an immigration officer sign your COPR and stamp your passport. Once you've done that, your PR card will be mailed to you. This takes approx 2 months to arrive.

I would not start working anywhere else until you have confirmed your COPR, just to be safe. Until you have that signed, you still fall under the conditions of your closed work permit I think.

Good luck!

Congratulations all you will do is landing interview

Congrats Ben!

yes it's all done. I was also on LMIA closed WP.

Now landing and PR card in couple of month. All old WP/visas will be void after landing as immigrant.

Not, you're not allowed until completing the landing process going to the border/office with your COPR

Thanks for the replies.....

Does anyone know roughly how long between the 'final request' being responded to and the COPR being issued is?

I think the new employer is looking at a start date in 4-6 weeks time so hopefully I get my COPR and can get landed asap

Thanks again

Ben

Hi Ben.

The time for me between Final Request and COPR in the mail was about two weeks (from inside Canada). Of course it depends on how fast you sent the required documents to CIC. I landed two days after I received COPR at the border with USA :)

So my application status in MY CIC account change to 'Approved' yesterday

So I'm guessing CIC will of sent my docs out to me (using the prepaid Xpresspost envelope) and they should arrive very shortly, I hope!

I have a question that I'm not sure anyone can answer......

The company I interviewed with, want to offer me the job, but have questioned if they are allowed to.... considering my non-landed status!

I would of thought as long as I don't physically do any work for them until my landing is done that they could continue down the recruitment process steps. i.e. medicals and references

Any thoughts?

Ben

Hi Ben,

Yes, your docs should arrive in the next couple of days.

As long as you don't officially start work until you land, you should be ok! No reason not to continue the hiring process I would think.

A job offer is fine

If company what's to be in te safe side they can include something as:

Job offer valid when XX get PR
