Is anyone using Humeira ? and is it covered by OHIP ? or do we need additional insurance?

I don't believe it's covered by OHIP (at least it wasn't a few years ago). The costs are around $15,000 to $20,000 per year. You can try applying for assistance with these costs through the Trillium program.

That isn’t how it works. Trillium follows the ODB formulary. You would need to be eligible for trillium. Your use of Humira should have come up a long time ago during your medicals. The percentage you may get covered will be based on last year’s income (international included). It is supposed to coverage high drug charges based on your ability to afford your cash payments. You still pay a decent amount if you make any form of income. Private coverage covers more drugs and for more indications. To receive expensive drugs you usually have to exclude other less expensive medications and be covered by the indication the ODB feels like they want to cover. For example it will only cover a certain anti-nausea medication for palliative cancer patients. Others can use it but either must pay or have private coverage that will pay.
