Congrats! Cathy
I just sent my passport and papers few days ago and it's later than the required date so I am little bit worried.
Hopefully it won't affect in any bad way for the decision making process. Fingers crossed:)

Thank you Degi

I don't think it is a problem if you sent a little bit late. Please relax. You can send a case specific enquiry online.

Good luck

Wife and I landed at the Vancouver airport on the 10th. No real issue except that the line for immigration/work/study visa interviews was long and they only had 2 officers processing them. The problem encountered was that while we were ready and prepared others in line had problems, discrepancies, no paperwork, suitcases of meat etc etc etc. it took 2 hours to pass through customs but it was only "5 minutes" for the interview.

Anyway. we're here now.

Welcome and congratulations for all your efforts - Celebrations are required!

my former Brother-in-law once got stuck in that very same line and situation you described, and he was just visiting from the US! He made the mistake of saying he forgot the address of his host here, and would have to call us.. 2 - 1/2 hours later he rejoined us, his travel-mates ???

Hi everyone here,

I got my passport and COPR today by DHL so we will find a weekend to drive to border to do landing.

I want to thank all who have helped. It's very appreciated.

Hope all waiting will get yours very soon.

Cheers,

Cathy

Congratulations on having it all behind you now. Just a question. I presume from what you have said that you went through customs together as a couple and the interview was with both of you present. As my wife and I will be entering Canada together (Toronto Pearson Airport), just wondering how the process works.

Thanks.

Basically you will wait in the line for as long as it takes until you get your 5 minutes...

It wasn't much of an interview and yes i was there with her, when it was our turn we just gave them our 2 passports, the 2 copr's, and the customs declaration which you get on the plane. The officer asked us both again about any children, any former marriages, and if she had ever been denied entry or a visa to Canada ( 4 or 5 different ways for the same questions), etc. She then highlighted and outlined condition 51. Then confirmed the address for the PR card to be sent to. That was pretty much the end of it.

Good luck :)

Hi everyone here,

My husband and I drove down to the south to Osoyoos border to do landing today. The officer told me it would take from three weeks to two months for my PR card to arrive.

I wish all who have got here enjoy the life in Canada and all who are waiting for COPR get very soon.

Cheers, :)

Same info we got, I suspect Christmas is going to cause us all around the time an extra couple weeks unless it gets to us before Christmas.

"she used to be an employee of a large company [so could] get confirmation of her birth information there"

I believe this is a reference to the dang'an (档案) as one's work unit (danwei or 单位) is supposed to be keeper of that file. Unfortunately, my spouse has only worked for small, private companies.

This article ("Keeping It Secret: The convoluted system of China’s personal files"): http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/881925.shtml
has more on the role of the dang'an.

Hi, everyone, I am new here, and would like to submit application next month from Beijing, now I have questions hope you could please help me with, thanks.

1. My husband is a Canadian citizen, I am Chinese, we have a one-year-old son. We three go to Shanghai embassy to apply for citizenship certificate for the baby in Sep. this year. So in my application, should I include my son as my dependant or just I myself alone apply for PR?

2. My husband is working in China now. We bought an apartment in Canada and we have the purchase contract now. In order to make the Immigration Beaurea believe he will go back to Canada, does he need a work plan in Canada as well? If so, how should the work plan be written?

thanks!

Got my passport with copr from Beijing VO. Boy it was surprisingly fast processing time i would say. You guys made it much more easier by sharing all your personal experience. thank you so much and good luck to all of you!
