Hi All,

I have two children, both on mild Autism spectrum. Elder one is 5 1/2 year old and younger one is 3 1/2 year old. Their language language skills are that of 1~2 year olds.

I wanted to know if my immigration case will be rejected due to medical condition of my kids?

Regards,

Amir

Dear Amir,

First accpet my greetings of Eid for you, your wife and your lively kids. I am also a father of a child with DS. We applied in feb,2007 and await thier final answer now. We have done the medicals, then further medical for my daughter who is now 3 years and 3 months. There are people who have applied with children of Autisim and DS. I do not know if any one has been approved yet. I am not discouraging you, on the contrary, I highly eoncurage you as Canada is a very good place to raise children with Special Needs. Please do your home work first, check if you fall in the NOC now available, and then apply. You can send me a e-mail at mirza897@yahoo.com or a private message and i will discuss in greater detail should you wish to do that. We have infact got a mail from them stating " We anticipate sending you a passport request by Jan,2011". So Inshallah things will move in the right direction for you and us, Ameen.

Kind Regards,

I think you should PM Qorax or PMM or Leon on this. As far as i know this should not be a problem with you since Autism cant be a burden on their health system... you can send an affidavit with information about their the kind of Autism they have and your oath to be able to support them yourself. If you can prove to canadians that you wont ask for support than they should nt have any issue. I dont have the link but there was one case on similar notes which went to canadian federal court and court ordered the immigration`s rejection of immigration application under similar circumstances to be reversed. the applicant had made a similar type of oath that he wont ask for support from canadian govt.

Hi,

I was reffered to you by another member haral. I hope you can guide me.

I am a father of two Autistic kids (A 5 1/2 year old and a 3 1/2 year old, language skills of 1~2 year old). Both are on the mild Autism spectrum. I applied as a skilled worker in June 2009 (Fast track). At that time I did not know about Autism and thought my children were just developemntally delayed.

As the cases in Pakistan got delayed after the visa section here closed and moved to London, we still have not received our medicals.

My question is should I inform the Canadian High comission of the Autism of my kids? Will this result in my case being rejected? Or should I wait for the medicals? Or let the medical practioner figure it out?

Your guidance will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Amir

Dear Amir,

Sorry to hear that, but remember: God has his ways & your kids r indeed special ones, chosen by God! In fact they r a Gift to u & your wife. U were being selected for Allah's Blessings (the most Merciful - the most Benevolent!).

No, u don't need to inform CIC anything at this stage. Once u get the Meds, inform your DMP about it alongwith all the diagnosis/prognosis/therapy reports. Usually Autism (if mild) is a non issue for the PR. As it generally is not going to strain the Canadian Social Services.

There might be a delay in processing your file, as the Meds might be furthered due to Specialist's (Pediatrician) Second Opinion, but most likely u'll sail thru eventually.

All the very best, my friend!
Regards to your Pillar of Strength - your lovely wife!
And sweet kisses to the great babies!!!

Keep the faith & God will help u tide over...

Hello Amir,

It's been 1.5 years since the last post on this topic...what is the latest on your case? Has your application already been approved? What steps have you taken?

I need to know how you went through, as my 8-yr old son's case is almost similar...

Thanks in advance,
marv23

Hi marv23. I am in a similar situation as my 4 years son has a mild autism. We just had our medicals in London and the doctor also noticed the autism and said she will mention it to Canadian Immigration as it's her duty to inform them.

Please can you let me know if you get the visa in the end ? Also did CIC ask you to provide anything further for your child ?

cheers,

Hi Owais,

Are you going to appeal in Canadian court while being in Pakistan? If you actually pursued this, how did you do it? What were the results?

I am on temp work permit application and currently my younger son has had some further medical. We have submitted Child specialist's opinion and waiting to hear back at the moment. I believe the Dr's assessment would probably state ADHD, though we are not actually sure at all. We have been reading about Autism and ADHD both. So i am trying to understand any further options.

You should conduct Brain MRI , Thyroid and chromosomal Test for actual diagnosis
