Hi,

If a child born outside Canada and one of his parent is Canadian Citizen. Can he bring him through temporary passport to his new born age under two years?

If so, what is the procedure?

The child gains the right to Canadian citizenship if the parent was already a citizen when the child was born and the parent was either born in Canada or immigrated to Canada. In the one case that the parent similar as the child was born outside Canada to a Canadian parent and gained citizenship through that parent, they are not able to pass citizenship to their children.

If the child has the right to Canadian citizenship, the process would be to apply for a citizenship certificate through the embassy where the family is located. Since that can in some cases take a long time, if the family needs to travel urgently, they can show proof of that and apply at the embassy for a temporary passport for a child under age 2 or for an older child for a facilitation visa.

Iam in the same situation
but for a temporary passport it asks for proof of immigration status in Canada(pr card ,temporary resident permit etc)
new born doesnt have any of those
so what to do in such a case
