Hello dudes!
Whenever anyone settle in Quebec, there should be 2 types of schooling - French, English medium.
But is it true that Quebec English medium schools are very costly to afford and most of the free schools are fully French medium and even they don't teach English??

If this is the fact then child education can be problematic. Is there anyone who can share his knowledge.

As an immigrant to Quebec you must enroll your child into French school if he/she wants to attend public school. If you pay for private school your child can go to English school. These rules are in place to make sure French remains the primary language in Quebec.

French can be primary language, but if they don't teach English at all then it will be pathetic. Does Public school also teach English, specially language/Grammar? If not then how they will learn English from school?

We have a school age child and the rule is that as soon as you get a CSQ, your child must go to French school. If you are on a temporary work permit, your child can go to the English public school, where they usually do at least 30% of their day in French, so that's a very good bilingual education. In the French public schools, there is very little French. My son did three years at the French public school and they were very not accepting of anyone who not only doesn't speak French, but isn't born here and looks like them. We moved our child back to the English public school because of these reasons, as well as they don't teach the child French either, just just try to shame him for not knowing French already.

In order to go to the public English schools you need an English Language Eligibility Certificate. It is a real hassle. There are private schools that will take immigrant children without a certificate but they are expensive. The religious ones are less expensive and I believe there's a Jewish one for only $5000 a year and a Christian one for $8000 a year. Many of the private schools run up to $20,000 a year.

Another option is homeschooling. You are allowed to teach in any language if you homeschool.

Your local school intake will tell you what grade your children will be in. Yes it will be based on age. Don't worry too much the local school or school district is used to integrating new students even when they come from English education. Luckily kids learn languages quickly so the transition may seem daunting at first but within the year your children will likely be fully bilingual.
