Child Born overseas to Canadian Parent - Quick Passport?

Hey All,

Child is born to Canadian parent living in the middle east. Spouse is Belgian. They got a temporary passport through Belgian embassy for the child and are now all in Canada. The Canadian husband is sponsoring his wife and has applied for a citizenship certificate for his child. They would like to travel to the USA but the Belgian temporary passport is expiring. How can they get a Canadian travel document for their child in order to travel?

I found this while googling "canadian passport baby born overseas", and it doesn't only apply to Italy obviously.

The only other way would be to wait for the proof of citizenship before asking for a passport, but it's obviously longer.

Interesting. Where would you get a Form PPTC 116 once you are already in Canada?

If the child is over 2 years of age, you can apply for a temporary Canadian passport since you have already applied for Canadian certificate. However if the child is over 2 years, you have no choice but to wait for Canadian certificate to arrive first before applying for Canadian Passport.
