Hello,

My name is Sara and I have immigrated to Canada with my family in 1997 and after a few years, me and my parents and brother acquired our Canadian Citizenship.

I'm currently pregnant and live outside Canada. My husband is not Canadian.
If I give birth outside Canada will I be able to give the Citizenship to my child?

If you can please let me know and if so what is the procedure for that.

Thanks a lot.

If you were naturalized as a Canadian citizen, i.e. if you acquired it through applying for citizenship, then your child is Canadian, even if born abroad.

However, if your child's children (your grandchildren) are also born abroad, they won't be Canadian.

There are plenty of threads in this forum regarding getting proof of citizenship for a newborn.
