Child Benefits registration when wife is not yet PR.

I'm applying in Canada for my wife to get PR as my spouse. She already has AOR and a OWP. She is 39 weeks pregnant now and has lived with me in Canada since April 2015. When our child is born, how will the government know to send me the child benefit money? It says the mother needs to register but she has no SIN and won't have PR for many months more.

What do I need to do? Thanks for any help.

First of all congratulations on the new baby. She would need to write CRA and let them know that you're the primary parent responsible for the care and upbringing of your baby. Since she doesn't have a sin she won't be able to get any benefits so it would have to be under your sin and name. CRA would reply back to you asking for additional information. You would need to provide everything that thing that ask for and eventually you would be receiving the benefits. It takes some time but in the end you get it
