How will they do verification of work experience letters? As far i know, it totally depends upon VO to get the documents verified or not. If your documents are well organized and you don't give any chance to VO to think about any anything, then S/he will not be interested to do your work experience docs verified. As you asked, they can either call, visit to your employer's place (very rare) or can send the fax directly. It's always good if we send all the documents in a well organized manner, which will definitely result in quick & smooth processing.
