checking progress/using account

Hi guys. I notice everyone here always checks the status of their application progress and such online. They are doing this directly thru the CIC site I assume. I went on and signed in to see my progress using the Receipt number that we got from our online payment. However, nothing came up. I don't have a Client ID or Application number that I know of, as we just sent it off (or do I?). They received our application package on the 14th of this month. Maybe it's just too soon for anything to show?

It's waaaay too soon.

Once you get your AOR email, it will at least have your File number on it, which will allow you to check their eCas system...eventually.

Ok I kinda figured ;D I was told I could go in with my Receipt number which is why I tried. What is an AOR letter?

AOR(Acknowledgement of receipt) stating that CIC has received your application)

Looks like the sponsorship approval is 57 days from when the application was received by CIC. I would expect after a month and half the sponsor will get an email from CIC confirming they have received the application. So is it soon? No.

Don't bother checking till you get AOR via email, save yourself some grief. Give it 2 months at least I would say.
