Check citizenship certificate application status without UCI?

Applying for a Canadian citizenship certificate for the minor child of a Canadian parent currently living in the U.S.

Please, does anyone know if there is a phone number to call from the U.S. which will allow one to check the status of such an application without a UCI number, which I do not have?

We see phone numbers, but they’re only for calls initiated within Canada...and we can’t check status online, because we don’t have a UCI number or Application number.

We know wait times are long, but we just want to make certain the application is in process, and determine if there are any problems that need attention.

Sorry, but an assigned UCI or application number is required for them to look up any information, as it means that the application is in the system. You can try calling Global Affairs Canada in Ottawa as a long distance call and ask them to transfer you to IRCC, but the IRCC call center is not the same location where they process applications in Sydney, Nova Scotia, so they won't be able to look up the application or confirm that they have it without the UCI number.
