Hello

They are going to ask for employment history, banking information and run a credit check. What is your budget? I might be able to help you find an apartment? I am a real estate agent and can do a search for you. No cost to you.

Write to me at david@solutionsthatmoveyou.com

I moved to Toronto three years ago from the United States and it can be overwhelming! I am here to help.

Hi David, Thanks!

I actually do not have the budget yet as I do not know what is the normal rental charges.
Please assist what is the normal rate for the Bachelors Apartment or 1 Bedroom Apartment.
I am looking at the area near Toronto Eaton Centre (close as possible).

If they require all these docs how will the newcomers rent an apartment in Canada (without credit history)?
Will the Employment Certificate and Bank Informaiton will suffice?

Appreciate your assistance.

Usually individual landlords does not require credit history. Only property management companies request that.

Hello

Bachelors can run anywhere from 700 to 1200 depending on the type of building you are looking at. One Bedroom can run 900 to 1500 and again it all depends on location and amenities. Once I know your budget I can run a search. Also take a look at craigslist many times you can find those apartments that are not listed with a Real Estate Agent....

I hope this helps! Keep me posted on your progress and drop me a note at my email address anytime and we can have a private conversation etc.

Regards,

David david@solutionshthatmoveyou.com

I used to live in "One City Hall" on Elizabeth Street (right across from Canadian Tire on Bay St. and at back of City Hall) in 2011-12. It was 3 min walk to Eaton Centre. My office was right between Eaton Centre and my apartment. The building was new and well-known to Ryerson students. It was $1600+ for 1-bed and probably $1300+ for a bachelor.

Since Eaton Centre is right top of the financial district of Toronto; there aren't many places to live in nearby vicinity (5 min walk). If you choose to live on Lakeshore (south), it will be 15-20 min daily commute for you. If you choose to live little farther within downtown and commute by subway (10~20 min), you can save more financially. You can also think about sharing an apartment if you're single.

I personally hired an agent to show me around. Note that, they wouldn't charge anything from you.
