Probably because: if it's inland, then it's assumed that you spend your daily lives together......and interact face to face, and hence most likely you don't email and chat with each other using instant messaging programs.

However, it's in your best interest to provide as much evidence as you can, to show that your relationship is genuine. Afterall, #12 in this form:

says:

"On a separate sheet of paper, provide any additional details of your current relationship that you believe would help to prove your relationship is genuine and continuing."

I find for inland applications, proof like joint bank accounts, pictures, life insurance policies, car insurance, rent agreements .. etc. are the most common types of proof that inland applicants provide. These all can be photocopied, and send with the appalication
