charged with child abuse before

hi guys,,i think i have posted this already before but i didnt get any clear answer to my case..
me and my boyfriend is planning to apply under commonlaw this coming sept 2011 but we are having doubts about the case filed to him before abouthis ex-wifes friend...
my boyfriend is not divorced yet but they have been separated for 5 years now and they have not been living together but we cannot go n with the process since his exwife doesnt want to sign divorce papers.and worse she even ask her friend to file a case against him regarding child abuse but the case was dismiss since we are able to provide proof that my boyfriend has not been seeing his exwife and his exwifes friend for a long time so theres no way thats gonna happen,,so the judge believe him and dismiss the case due to lack of proof and the dates they were saying changes everytime they were being ask by the atty and the judge and no one can give a testimony and no witness regarding the case....

our problem is that will this affect my boyfriends ability to sponsor me or no?will he be denied for criminality or no?or can we go on with the sponsorhip and are there any documents we need to provide when we apply for the sponsorsip?we are just worried about that...

The charges were dropped, therefore he wasn't convicted so it shouldn't have any effect on his ability to sponsor you.

i just have one last question though,,,he is not divorce yet?it is ok to go on with the sponsorship..??

I don't for certain, but I would get that if your boyfriend is still legally married to someone else, he would be unable to sponsor you.

It's fine as long as you can prove you have been living together in a common-law relationship for 12 consecutive months.

yeah thats what i heard from other people in this forum before that we should be okey to sponsor as long as we are living for 12 consecutive years eventhough he is not divorce yet,,we are planning to send a letter explaining why the divorce has not been done yet and other proof showing they have not been living together for 5 years....
