Hi everybody,

I have applied for PR under CEC this month. My passport is hand written and will be valid till 2017. However, by mid-2015, all handwritten passports will be banned and will not be accepted at any airports across the world.

I may take a chance to replace my hand written passport to machine readable within few months when I visit my country (Currently I'm working in Canada). But, as I have already applied for PR this month with my current hand written passport, will there be any problem in the application if I change my passport to machine readable? They have got the copy of recent passport alon with other documents in the application package.

What should I do if I replace my passport with a new one? Do I need to reapply for PR or just need to inform immigration office about the change.

Please, let me know.

Thanks in advance

Wait for your AOR, and then when you get your new passport email a copy to CIC and inform
them about your new passport.

Thanks..but I hope it won't delay the procedure....I won't be getting new passport before january , 2014.

It won't affect your application at all. You'll get the AOR within 60 days of submitting
your application. 7-8 months after that, you will get MR.
I applied for PR in september this year, waiting for my new passport right now. I applied for
a new passport one week after submitting my application.
When I get the new passport I email a scan along with my filenumber to CIC.

You'll be fine!

one last question if you can help me on this. my workpermit and canadian visa are linked to my current passport..if I take a new passport with new number, is this gonna effect those? Cause the current passport won't be valid as soon as I get a new passport.

Correct, you'll get your old passport back, with visa and trv in it. So you can still use that, combined with your new one to re-enter
Canada if have to. You don't need to change your visa or such thing.

Thanks Toby for all the help.

But this morning another confusion has arised. As a principal applicant I have sent all the necessary documents related to employment. My spouse is a dependant and she has been working. As the document checklist says that the employment documents are needee for principal applicants, I haven't sent out my spouse's employment documents. One of my friend sent his dependent's job offer letter as well. What should I do? My package has alreday been sent.

Need your suggestion.

Like you said, spouse's documents are not needed. You don't need to submit them.
