Hi!

Need your advice please....

My husband submitted our spouse application end of march - received by CIC march 30. We got married last December.

I used my maiden name in the application since we wanted to submit the application asap and changing my passport to my married name would cause further delays

Question is, can I change my passport to my married name while the application is being processed and submit the new one when I receive PPR? Or is this something that is not allowed or may cause problems in the processing of the application?

Would you suggest that I just change my passport when I get to Canada?

Yes, you can change it and submit the new one with your married name when you get the PPR. I did the exact thing, and it caused no problems.

Same here. I had to change my passport shortly before they had it requested (see my timeline). I didn't even inform the Buffalo office that I had sent them a passport different from the one I used while filling out the application. I landed.

Thanks charlieD10 and empirical scientist for the info!!!
