Hi folks, first and foremost thanks for your help a few months back in obtaining a TRV visa for my wife - we both enjoyed our trip to Canada.

Since we were a bit in a hurry at that time, my wife was still using her passport with her maiden name - however, she now got all of her documents re-issued with her new last name, except for her passport. The TRV visa in her passport still has 4 years of validity remaining but is under her maiden name.

Should she choose to re-issue her Thai passport with her new last name, is there a procedure in place to get the visa transferred to her new passport with her new last name? We have all name change documents and marriage certificate if that helps.

Keep the TRV until it expires.

Which basically means, keep the passport with the maiden name until the expiration of the visa (4 years, which is the same than the passport expiration date)?

Yes.

Basically CIC doesn't have time to change a perfectly valid and functional TRV just because people do not want to carry two passports (or want to have the name of their preference on them).

I agreed to what members are saying. But if your wife doesn't want to travel with two passports, especially in case of name change, she can contact the VFS and they will help her. There is a fees for this though. All the best!
